Our broken care system has been decimated by coronavirus. Successive governments disregard for care in the past and present has cost older people their dignity, their safety and their lives. It is not right that an estimated 25,000 people have died in care homes.
They deserved better.
This is not about a quick fix or papering over the horrors of the coronavirus crisis – we need a lasting change that will protect us all now and in the future. The Government must build a new care system that looks after people.
We need a better care system, for the people we love today, for the people we've lost before and for our families and friends tomorrow.
