FROM PROTECT THE WILD. THEY TALK ABOUT SUCCESS AND THAT IS GOOD NEWS

January 2024 - A BIG month for wildlife!

As we wrap up another month here at Protect the Wild (yes already!), we want to take a moment to share some of the work and achievements we've accomplished together so far in 2024. It is only thanks to your support and financial contributions that we are able to do what we do and we don't take that lightly!

So this is the first of our monthly emails updating you on all that we're doing to protect British wildlife!

Equipment Fund Grants

Thanks to our brilliant supporters, we provided much-needed equipment to three groups:

  • Camcorders for the Cotswold Monitors - “Thanks to Protect the Wild we are now able to keep an even better eye on our local hunts (including the sheep-worrying Heythrop) with two new cameras."
  • Bodycams to protect sabs in Derbyshire - Not only have Protect the Wild been a great support with our recent campaign asking Chesterfield FC to cancel the Barlow Hunt’s Ball, but they have also recently provided us with some body cameras."
  • Bodycams to Hull Wildlife Protectors - “Bringing the New Year in with New kit funded by the wonderful and ever supportive Protect the Wild!!"

Victory against the Barlow Hunt

Following the news that Chesterfield FC were to host the Barlow Hunt Ball we immediately jumped into action, supporting Derby Hunt Saboteurs, local journalists and supporters in asking the club to cancel the event. And just 48 hours after we urged our supporters to write to Chesterfield FC we heard the brilliant news that the hunts' biggest fundraiser would no longer be held at the football ground!

It was a victory for common sense and right over wrong, proof of the putrid stench that fox hunting carries with it, but above all it was a victory for well-presented argument and the power of public pressure.

Hare Coursing Animation

Our latest animation, narrated by actress Poppy Lee Friar, has already been seen by over 2.3 million people, exposing the cruel practice of hare coursing and raising awareness about the need for better legislation to protect wildlife from persecution. It forms the first of 12 animations to be produced this year focusing on different types of cruelty affecting British wildlife as we continue to push these issues in front of a mainstream audience.
Of course, we acknowledge that the journey to protect wildlife from varying forms of persecution still continues. It is your incredible support and the amazing community that we are building which fuels our determination to keep going and do even more for wildlife.

Thank you
