FROM CORNWALL WILDLIFE TRUST LOTS TO BE HAPPY ABOUT

View this email in your browser SEPTEMBER NEWS As summer gently gives way to autumn, Cornwall’s landscapes are alive with change. From migrating birds along our coasts to hedgerows heavy with berries, it’s a season of abundance and preparation. In this email, we share the latest news, upcoming events, and ways you can help protect Cornwall’s wildlife this autumn. Your support is helping us to ensure this continues. Thank you for your vital help with our mission to create a Cornwall where nature thrives. In this month’s newsletter, we bring you: Tips on what to spot this month Exciting events to make the most of autumn Volunteering opportunities An update about the work our beavers are doing Our final Open Garden this Sunday Remember a Charity Week What to spot this month Image: Nuthatch by Ian French Across Cornwall, a grand harvest is taking place as birds and other animals begin feasting on the bounty of nuts and berries erupting from the hedges. Many birds begin their migrations south to their wintering grounds, whilst birds from the north - such as ducks, plovers, and thrushes, begin to arrive. At sea, Atlantic bluefin tuna are being spotted more and more, as they chase shoals of mackerel, sardines, and herring. Seasonal Spotter’s Guide Employees of the year: the beavers Thanks to your generous support, we are now almost halfway to our target for the Wild Beaver Appeal! Your donations will help to kickstart our plans to bring wild beavers back to the Par and Fowey river catchments. However, we still need to reach our target to make this vision a reality. In this video, hear from Laura Snell, Conservation Officer, about how wild beavers have already benefited the wetland habitat at our Helman Tor reserve. Donate today Remember a Charity Week What does nature mean to you? The bracing chill of a sea swim? The quiet satisfaction of reaching a rugged tor? The wonder of a rockpool teeming with life?
