But there is nothing glorious about turning Britain’s moors into killing grounds. Nothing glorious about birds being driven towards waiting guns. And nothing glorious about landscapes being manipulated so that wealthy shooters can kill animals for entertainment. Grouse shooting does not exist in isolation. Its intensive management is associated with the persecution of protected birds of prey, the killing of other wildlife, the burning of precious peatland and the degradation of habitats that should belong to us all. Until now, our End Bird Shooting campaign has focused predominantly on the pheasant and partridge shooting industry. But that is only the beginning. Over time, we will expand our work to confront every form of bird shooting for so-called “sport” across the UK — including grouse shooting. We will create hard-hitting animations and videos, produce powerful campaigning content, fund undercover investigations and push the truth in front of millions of people. We will expose what happens on Britain’s shooting estates, challenge the powerful interests protecting the industry and build a movement capable of bringing it to an end.
