UK Government announces water industry review |
The new Independent Water Commission provides a crucial opportunity for the UK Government to address the sewage, microplastic and chemical pollution damaging our waterways and putting our marine habitats and wildlife at risk. |
We're calling on the government to listen to the public and address the toxic pollution poisoning our waterways. Read our blog to find out more. |

Celebrating 10 years of carrier bag charges |
October marked a decade since the carrier bag charge was introduced in Scotland. Our Beachwatch data shows an 88% drop in carrier bags on Scottish beaches over the last 10 years, showing the power of policies like these. However 1,832 plastic bags were removed by beach clean volunteers across the UK in 2023, meaning there’s still more work to be done. |
We’re able to campaign for policies that target plastic pollution because of the support of you, our members – thank you for being part of the change. |
As the winter evenings draw in, we’re here to brighten your days with this month’s Positive Ocean News. We're celebrating new sanctuaries for marine life in Australia and the US, as well as record high numbers of nesting marine turtles in Greece and a revival of cuttlefish in Costa Brava. |
